Larry Lake is the Shahid and Sharon Ullah Endowed Chair in Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin where he has served on the faculty of the Petroleum and Geosystems Department since 1978. He holds B.S.E and PhD. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Arizona State University and Rice University. Dr. Lake is a world-famous expert in reservoir engineering, geochemistry, fluid flow in porous media and enhanced oil recovery, and he has published widely and frequently conducts industrial and professional society short courses in enhanced oil recovery and reservoir characterization. Dr. Lake is a member of the National Academy of Engineers. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) as well as on several of its committees; he has been an SPE distinguished lecturer and is an honorary member.
