What is the one Penn State activity that everyone should participate in, and why?
Everyone should participate in Penn State’s THON! THON is such an incredible philanthropy and makes a huge difference in people's lives!
Why did you decide to attend Penn State?
I chose Penn State because I wanted to step outside my comfort zone and challenge myself. The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences and the EME department offer so much to its students, and as someone pursuing environmental engineering, I loved that there was a program dedicated to true environmental engineering where many other universities hide this amazing degree under civil engineering. Penn State also has a pride and community like no other, and I really wanted to be a contributing part of it.
What’s the best part about being an EME student?
The best part about being an EME student is being a part of the community that the department has. A lot of the majors are smaller and tight-knit, and you can really make a connection with your professors and peers.
What is one piece of advice you would give to prospective students?
Put yourself out there- join your major’s society, join clubs, do something you enjoy. It is the best way to meet other students, make friends, and create the connections you need to be successful at college.
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned in college so far?
Office hours are your best friends, and your professors are here to help you if you just ask.
What’s the number one reason prospective students should choose EME?
EME is a challenging, but a rewarding program. Your hard work does not go unnoticed.
