Meredith Pepka

What made you choose your major?

I chose my major based on my passion for protecting the environment, traveling, the outdoors, math, and science. I really felt as environmental engineering, specifically environmental systems engineering in the EME department would provide me with a strong education and allow me to continue my passions.

What student organizations and activities are you involved in?

I have been involved in Penn State Club Swimming, THON, the Society of Environmental Systems Engineers, and Tau Beta Pi during my time at Penn State.

Why did you decide to attend Penn State?

I decided to attend Penn State due to its highly-ranked engineering program and the fact that the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences felt like a small family with like-minded students and professors who have passions similar to mine.

What is one piece of advice you would give to prospective students?

One piece of advice that I would give to prospective students is to develop strong, professional relationships with your peers and professors to be successful in college and to prepare you for your future.

What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned in college so far?

The most important lesson I have learned in college is to stay dedicated to your academic career but make time to involve yourself outside of academics to make memories and become a well-rounded person.
